FIRE: Fighting Injustice Regulating Equality

COBRA--> Community Organizing Based Recruitment Activities
Not only is COBRA a way for us to recruit for the Higher Learning program,
however it stands to open up social justice dialogue with youth of color in
the community. Through COBRA, we lead a series of workshops and political
discussions based upon the questions and concerns that the audience has.
COBRA usually takes place in a classroom setting that contains a majority of
East Palo Alto youth. Such sessions have included, but are not limited to,
political prisoners, history of violence in East Palo Alto, a toxic tour of
East Palo Alto, classism, racism, sexism, and more!

Summer Site Exchanges
Every summer, Higher Learning core members link up with five different
organizations in the Bay Area based upon a specific theme. Such themes have
been exploring different types of organizing, understanding political
consciousness within the realm of community organizing, and deepening the
connection to social justice. The main goal of site exchanges is to expose
the young people to a different approach to community organizing in order to
promote growth within their campaign work, and within their personal lives.
