Initiated by high school aged youth, Higher Learning brings youth of color together to address environmental and social justice issues in the East Palo Alto community. Higher Learning youth lead and run two campaigns: to address gentrification and to hold a toxic waste plant accountable to the community. Higher Learning is made up of an active membership of youth engaged in political education, media creation, direct organizing, and academic support. Thereby Higher Learning creates a safe space for youth to critically examine
and act on issues that impact them and their communities.
